In his article, Pigliucci bases his proposal on the astounding premise that knowledge of scientific facts is positively correlated with belief in nonreligious pseudoscientific claims. He proposes that critical thinking and understanding of scientific method is more important, and he found this to be more common among philosophy and psychology students than science students.

Of course, this is counterintuitive for all those regurgitators of scientific facts who whine endlessly about philosophers.
