It's not every blog that has its' own fantasy baseball team, and even less common are fantasy teams based out of the Northern Territories in Australia. Yes, that's right, I'm talking about the Darwin Finches, or (as they are fondly known by their many fans) the 'Unnatural Selections'.
Currently, the Finches are near the top of the standings in the BARB (Bullard Alternative Reality Baseball) league to which its GM (a certain Scott Hatfield) belongs, and they attribute much of their club's recent success to their new manager, a no-nonsense take-no-prisoners veteran of the evolution-creation wars. Though one wonders why this fellow doesn't work for the Pirates! Can you guess who I'm talking about?

So what's the lineup?
My league uses software to simulate gameplay, and so we have different lineups vs. RHP, LHP with AND without DHing. But my regulars are as follows:
C Johnny Estrada
1B/OF Lance Berkman
1B/DH David Ortiz
2B Placido Polanco
SS Carlos Guillen
3B/OF Chipper Jones
3B Eric Chavez
CF Aaron Rowand
RF Jeff Francouer
Utility Billy Hall
In the rotation I've got Smoltz, Kazmir, Contreras and Glavine and I've been trying a lot of things in the fifth starter spot. My bullpen begins with Cla Meredith, bridges with Jonathan Broxton and J.J. Putz (for now) and I close things down with Trevor Hoffman.
So, as you can see, it's a pretty good ballclub on paper.
Nice name.
